In 2 Sri Lanka schedule

The In 2 Sri Lanka program starts with a 4-week period of introduction into Sri Lankan culture, lifestyle, language, people, food, attitude and habits. An interesting period from which you will benefit when you start on your second period of the Active in Asia Program: work as a volunteer in one of our projects.

Week 1: The Orientation

The Orientation Week will be held in the city of Kandy. This is the first step to a successful stay in Sri Lanka and the volunteers will have the opportunity to experience the following activities: A first contact with the local language (Singhalese), project work, customs & habits, yoga sessions, cooking, local sightseeing, among others more.

Week 2 and 3: Experience the best of Sri Lanka with two exciting options!

Option A: Volunteering at a social project

You will have the opportunity to participate actively in one of our community projects. Most projects are located in the Hill Country, the province of Kandy. Most of our projects deal with children and youth.

Option B: Adventure and Travel

If you choose this option, the second week will start together with an experienced Guides for a Trek in the Mountains of Nuwara Eliya, with visits to the reserve forests of the Hill Country (the Central Province of Sri Lanka), where a wide variety of wildlife species can be observed. The Itinerary will be adapted to the season.

In the third week, you will learn about the Buddhist religion and philosophy at a temple. Participants will have a chance to live at the temple and have daily sessions about Buddhism, meditation and culture in Sri Lanka.

Week 4: The Holiday Week on the South or East Coast of Sri Lankak

(Location may change due to weather conditions)

We will take you for a well-deserved holiday time. Sri Lanka is surrounded by beautiful beaches all across and you will have free time to swim and do some water sports in the Indian Ocean, and to simply relax by the beach! This is also the perfect opportunity to make an evaluation of the first three weeks of the program.

Additional four week periods

If you choose to join the In 2 Sri Lanka program for longer then four weeks, you can be placed in one of several projects we have organized in Sri Lanka. Some examples of these projects are: farming, orphanage stay or teaching projects. During this period, you will be placed at one of our centers or in a homestay situation.

Extention of the program by four week periods can be arranged during the first four weeks. Your program coordinator can provide you with more information about all the available projects.

Remember: Even though you may only work for a few weeks, your contribution can make a very positive impact!

Prices and payment

First four weeks option A, teaching: € 750

First four weeks option B, trekking: € 850

Additional four week periods are charged at € 350

€ 200 is due as deposit on the moment of the booking to secure your place on the program. The rest of the amount is to due 14 days before the start of the program. You will receive an email concerning the balance payment. As soon as the deposit has been paid, you will receive an email containing more detailed information about the program and the location.

About 95% of our participants get placed in the requested program. However, it might happen that due to certain circumstances we can not place you in the quested program. In this situation, we will refund your deposit and discuss other program options.
